Supporting our Armed Forces | Keyzo

Showing support for our Armed Forces

The UK Armed Forces defend our country and its interests. Our service men and women are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, providing security, and fighting terrorism.  Showing support for the Armed Forces provides a much-valued morale boost for the troops and their families.

Armed forced Day & Reserves Day

Reserves Day takes place on June 25th and Armed Forces Day takes place on June 28th and is a chance for us all to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans, cadets and reservists.

There are lots of ways for people, communities and organisations across the country to show their support and get involved in Armed Forces Day.  There are so many physical and virtual events that people can get involved with too!

As a rapidly growing company and one that truly values our staff, we’re extremely proud to have made our pledge to the Armed Forces Covenant and to champion the work that Reserves Day and Armed Forces Day recognises.

Armed Forces covenant

At Keyzo we have developed a real sense of community through our core values and over the years, we’ve welcomed some fantastic ex-service people to our teams right across the business.  Each of them adding real value with their knowledge, experience and vast array of transferable skills so making the pledge was easy and continuing to shout about it is essential!

We’re committed to honouring the Armed Forces Covenant by supporting the Armed Forces Community and recognise the value Serving Personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families contribute not only to our business but to our country.  Since signing the Pledge, we’ve been awarded the Silver Employer Award and we’re looking to achieve the Gold Award very soon.

“It’s fantastic that we employ ex-service people, they each bring a different set of skills to our teams and fit perfectly with our values.  Our business is undoubtably benefiting from their individual experience across our company.  Signing the pledge was a great experience and going on to achieve the Bronze and Silver Award just demonstrates our continued efforts to support the Armed Forces Community”

Meet Tim Skinner, our senior Product Owner and ex RAF serviceman

Tim joined Keyzo almost 5 years ago, working  within the Bytron division as a Product Owner for skybook.  During his time with the company he’s been promoted to Management, moved with his wife and two daughters from the UK to Cyprus and then to Scotland!

We caught up with Tim to get his thoughts on Armed Forces Week:

Whats your role within bytron?

“I’m the Senior Product Owner for skybook, so my main responsibilities are to ensure that customers’ requirements are planned into a release cycle.  Ensuring that the work is fully scoped and as per the requirement and then monitoring the delivery of this work. I am also responsible for ensuring that our business roadmap is followed and looking at ways to continue to enhance the customers user experience.”

How have you progressed within your career?

“Since starting with the business I have progressed my career into an area that consolidates a lot of my past experience and knowledge from my time in the Royal Air Force in Air Traffic Control to being an Operations and Crewing Manager with a regional airline. I can call on these to push myself further and have completed various online courses to ensure my career continues heading onwards and upwards.”

What does Armed Forces week mean to you?

“My wife is currently serving in the RAF and with Bytrons support, we made the move to Cyprus a few years ago with our two girls and more recently to Scotland, having the support from Bytron allowed my wife to further advance her career. Armed Forces Week brings everyone together to celebrate and recognise the service, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who serve in our nation’s military, as well as companies like ours that get behind us to show their solidarity and support.”

There are loads of events planned across the country to celebrate Armed Forces Week, how are you going to #SALUTEOURFORCES
